Kenya Build 2010
The building project in 2010 will take place at Cheryl’s Children’s Rescue Centre and Faith Brooks Restoration Centre.
At Cheryl’s it will be phase 4 of the re-building programme which will involve the building of a new IT room, a library and 2 classrooms at the Centre. On completion of phase 4 Cheryl’s will have been totally re-built.
I have just returned from a visit to Nairobi to visit a number of orphanages, to carry out an assessment of their needs and to decide which one is in most need of help. This work will then also be carried out as part of the 2010 programme. I have decided to start a building programme in a slum called Lenane which has a population of around 300,000. The work will be carried out at the Faith Brooks Restoration Centre. The plan is to start building dormitories with a view to possibly carrying out further development there in the future.
As usual the 2010 programme will commence in February with the work being carried out with local labour and funded by Kenya Build. The volunteers will arrive in late June/early July to do their bit before handing back to local labour for completion
